Well, it's official. The Senate now approves of torturing detainees in secret prisons without the right to a fair trial. McCain has shown himself to be little more than a stooge, despite his own past and morals. We're now no better than those we purport to fight if this passes into law. And it also acts as a sheild for Füher Bush and his cronies should the International Court ever decide to enact the Geneva Convention on Bush's tactics. Yay, now he's totally above the law too! No accountability whatsoever! angryGood job, voters of '04! Look what you've done! But you guys feel safer, don't you? |

And so ends one hell of a summer. refreshedJammin' to:: Hello Beastie Still working on Long Pig. Yes, still. It doesn't help the director's an incompetent jackass, but that's neither here nor there at this point. Have opened a line of communication with the producers, thus making it more and more likely that my friend Dennis will be overseeing the next project, whatever that may be. That means actual pre-production, a set shooting schedule, ample post production time. Oh, and that nagging little thing called a finished script. That said, some of the editing is going pretty well. Basically, anything shot by me, Dennis or Matt has turned out looking pretty good. Gussie's death scene, which opens the movie, is actually pretty damn terrifying. Here's a few photos: ![]() Ashtyn Sonner at sunset. Dennis (or John Nichols, don't know which) shot this. ![]() The feet of one of the killers, pushing a cart that plays a big part in the movie. Shot by Matt. ![]() That cart again, with some blood. But whose? Whoooooooooose? (Shot by me.) ![]() Gussie meets her demise. That's my shot! ![]() Me, in a shot I like to call "The Leone." Shot by Matt. ![]() Left: Dennis Tipton. Right: Matthew Misamore. They make up 2/3 of the trio of Geeks. ![]() The lovely Michelle Vanagas. Shot by me. Long Pig will be on DVD sometime in October, hopefully. After that, who knows what's next? CHUD.com is gearing up to produce an independent comedy, 11 Colonels Attack, and depending on how things fall, I might try and get onto that. I'm still writing, hoping I can get some kind of short film to tout around the festival circuit. It's kinda weird, standing here on the verge of the rest of my life. I'm graduating in less than a year and I've already started making contacts with industry folk and fellow indie filmmakers. Many have already offered my a spot on their next project. It's kinda cool to know that it's all coming together. That's all for now. |

Here's some links: Official Quicktime teaser: http://www.longpigmovie.com/Pages/Tease YouTube version: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TgWGFHnB The movie should be on DVD by August (I hope). Editing continues every day, at a breakneck pace, but it's what I've always wanted to do. Plus, one of my screenplays might be the next movie we make! Here's hoping! |

Movie You Haven't Seen But Need To: Kingdom of Heaven: Director's Cut impressedJammin' to:: The Battle of Kerak A massively different film than the critically drubbed movie that came out last year (the studio evidently hacked Ridley Scott's film from three and a half hours to two hours twenty minutes, excising entire plotlines and characters). Scott fought for a restored version, and it finally found its way onto DVD. If you've ever though Orlando Bloom wasn't much of an actor--watch this. Your opinion will change. He's thrust into the center of a Lawrence of Arabia-sized epic, surrounded by amazing actors like Liam Neeson, Brendon Gleason, Edward Norton, Jeremy Irons, David Thewlis, and F. Murray Abraham, and he holds his own and then some. His rallying speech before the defense of Jerusalem is powerful--it's not O'Toole screaming "No Prisoners!", but it's damn fine in its own right. And you need to see it. Seriously, the thing is so beautifully epic that it's almost ridiculous, and the cinematography is some of the best I've ever seen. In any movie. Ever. Like, I want to have sex with the camerawork in this movie. Maybe get married to it, have lots of kids. Have lots of little shots of our own. Seriously, LOOK AT THIS: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And the most beautiful, amazing, "how the fuck did they pull that one off" shot: ![]() Do yourself a favor. Take an evening out of your life, spend the $5 bucks to rent it (or the $20 to order it off Amazon), and revel in its awesomeness. |

From a message board I post on, in a thread dealing with that horror movie I'm helping out on: deviousSherry: OMG!! I just clicked on your website and read what the movie is about... OMG!! ... I had no FREAKING CLUE!!! ---------------------------------------- Note: this movie is about psychotic murdering cannibals. Many people are eaten throughout the film. ---------------------------------------- Carlo the Director: Now, now, don't be too hard on yourself. Maybe you can start watching horror movies now - a little at a time until you build up a tolerance! ---------------------------------------- Me: Yes, there's a perfect movie for beginners to check out to get themselves over any kind of squeamishness of gore in films. The film of which I speak is called "Irreversible". It's a very happy movie, with a cute ending. ---------------------------------------- How horrible am I? Pretty horrible, I guess. |

You must know... surely, you must know it was all for you. You are too generous to trifle with me. I believe you spoke with my aunt last night, and it has taught me to hope as I'd scarcely allowed myself before. If your feelings are still what they were last April, tell me so at once. My affections and wishes have not changed, but one word from you will silence me forever. If, however, your feelings have changed, I will have to tell you: you have bewitched me, body and soul, and I love, I love, I love you. I never wish to be parted from you from this day on. contemplativeYes, it's cheesy that I'm posting excerpts from Pride and Prejudice to elaborate my love for Gussie, but given the situation of things, the words felt right, and true. I love you, Gus. That will never change. |

So what's the newest show to be welcomed into the panethon of "Hello, you're an old show from a long time ago" on TV Land? shockedMad About You. Yeah, Mad About You. This is worse than seeing Murphey Brown, or Fresh Prince, or Cheers on the channel--they were on the air before I remember regularly watching prime time TV, or, at the least, they were canceled when I was just a kid. But Mad About You? Its final season was when I was a freshman in high school. Which, thinking today, was in 1998. Which is almost ten years ago. WHY AM I GETTING SO OLD?! |
